Glossary
Every term here is defined at the level this catalog supports and no further. Where a word has no definition behind it, that is what the entry says.
In-one claim
A hyphenated count printed on the front of a box, of the form four-in-one or ten-in-one. Not one listing in this catalog states what a single place in that count consists of, so the unit is undefined. Two listings here state the same figure and then name different sets of modes.
Preset
A stored control setting, counted on the front of a box. No listing in this catalog says what one preset consists of, or names any of the presets it counts. The catalog contains several different phrases for what may or may not be the same object.

Program
A second word for a counted control setting, used by some listings where others say preset. Nothing states whether the two words describe the same kind of thing. One slow cooker listing uses the adjective programmable and attaches no count to it at all.

Power level
A count of positions on a microwave control. Several listings here state the same figure on machines of different cavity sizes and different wattages. No listing states what a level corresponds to, and this site does not divide a wattage by a level count.

Shade setting
A count of positions on a toaster browning control. Four different phrases for this appear in the toaster category, sometimes attached to identical figures. No listing states the range the scale covers or the size of a step.

Quart
A defined unit of volume in United States customary measure, maintained through the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Used in this catalog for pressure cookers, slow cookers, air fryer baskets and some vacuum dust cups.

Cubic foot
A defined unit of volume used in this catalog for microwave cavities and for the two ovens filed among the air fryers. This site does not convert between cubic feet and quarts, because the listings do not.

Wattage
A stated input rating in watts. Reported on this site exactly as the listing states it. It is not converted into speed, into running cost, into heat, or into any statement about a household circuit.

Sealed pressure cooker
A vessel that seals, with a heating element under it and a valve in the lid. This site describes the machine at that level and gives no operating guidance of any kind. The regulator that publishes appliance recalls is linked once, on the machine page for this kind of machine.

Pressure release
A named part of a sealed cooker. This site records that such a part exists and stops there. It publishes no procedure concerning it, and no discussion of any way of working around it.

A removable pot in a heated housing with a lid. The listings in this category state the fewest counted claims in the catalog.

Magnetron cavity
The named parts of a countertop microwave, as the listings describe them: a cavity with a door and a control panel. This site does not describe what happens inside the cavity, because it has no source it is willing to paraphrase for that.

Turntable
A rotating plate stated by most microwave listings here. Two of them measure it in inches, which makes those the only listings in the category to measure a part other than the cavity.

Convection
A mode named by two listings filed among the air fryers, both of which describe countertop ovens rather than basket machines. This site keeps those two in their own subgroup and does not call them basket fryers.

Air fry setting
A named mode on an oven, as distinct from a machine sold as an air fryer. Two listings in this catalog describe an oven with such a setting. The distinction is printed on their cards rather than smoothed over.

Basket
The removable container in a basket-type air fryer, and the part its capacity figure measures. Where a listing describes containers or a cavity instead, the capacity figure is measuring something else.

Brushroll
The rotating brush at the floor end of a vacuum. Some listings describe it as self-cleaning and one describes a shutoff for it. None of those descriptions carries a figure.

Lift-Away pod
A detachable canister described by three vacuum listings in this catalog. It is an arrangement of the housing rather than a measurement, and it does not change what the machine consists of.
Dust cup
The container a vacuum fills. Almost every measurable claim in that category is about this part. Figures for it appear in quarts and in liters within a single category, and several listings replace the figure with an adjective.
HEPA
A filtration specification with a published definition, concerning the retention of particles of a stated size. It is the most defined phrase in this catalog, and it describes a medium rather than a room.
PFAS
A named family of substances. Two listings in this catalog state that their coating or their glass is free of it. This site records the phrase, links to the agencies that publish on the subject, and adds nothing of its own.

Nonstick coating
A surface claim on several baskets and pots here. Reported as the seller words it. This site makes no statement about what any coating is, does or releases, and links instead to the agencies that publish rules on food contact materials and on advertising language.
Model code
A label that identifies one product. The digits inside it measure nothing and sit on no scale. Two codes in this catalog contain digits that match the cavity figure printed beside them, which is a coincidence of naming rather than a specification.
